THE WILLIAMSON COUNTY COALITION ON UNDERAGE DRINKING

A County-wide coalition, formed September 1, 2004, uses the Communities Mobilizing for Change on Alcohol program designed to: limit youth access to alcohol; build awareness on the dangers and public health issues of underage drinking; reduce community tolerance of underage drinking; and reduce adult provision of alcohol to youth.

Based in Round Rock, Texas, the growing coalition welcomes diverse segments of Williamson County, including parents, students and staff from multiple school districts in the county, law enforcement, the business sector, civic and/or volunteer groups, health care professionals, both City and County agencies, and multiple nonprofit agencies, including The Georgetown Project and The Children's Support Coalition.

To help promote awareness, press releases are frequently distributed to Williamson County newspapers. Public service announcements are distributed to the Williamson County Public Information Officer, the Round Rock Police Department Public Information Officer, and the City of Georgetown Public Information Officer.
